Anapra
Because of the economic recession in the U.S.A. and Mexico, as well as the negative media attention which Juarez has received in the past year, the Susanna Wesley school is currently under tremendous financial stress. Anaprans are people who gave up everything in search for a better life. Given their situation, Anaprans may have been brave to hope -but they are right to believe in themselves and in their future. For all their needs and wants, their academic achievement surpassed that of many socially exclusive and well funded institutions. To me, our students’ accomplishments demonstrate that they are the true Mexican elite. ~Teacher Arely
Susannah Wesley School, or “Colegio Susana Wesley” in Spanish, is a mission school envisioned, built, and supported through the service of Pastor Antonio Briones and his family and the support of faithful and loving partners in mission across the border.
The school supplies a Christian education to children from 1st through 6th grade. It is officially incorporated to the SEP (Office of Public Education), and is acknowledged as a private school following the standard national curriculum.
The children of Susana Wesley receive ESL classes, as well as art, music, and Bible lessons (learning a Bible verse every week). The school is set in Anapra, an impoverished neighborhood of Juarez, Mexico, and it runs on a limited budget, but its excellency in education and service have been noted in Mexico and abroad.
