Meet Our Pastors
Rev. Kay Scarbrough, Senior Pastor
Kay serves as the senior pastor with responsibilities for worship, staff, and administration. She earned her Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. She is a K-State grad and lifetime alum!
Prior to coming to FUMC, Kay served as Flint Hills district superintendent (2005-07), Lenexa senior pastor (2003-05) , Overland Park: Valley View associate pastor (2000-03), Eskridge Yoked Parish- Harveyville (1997-2000) pastor, and Topeka: Countryside associate pastor (1993-97).
Her favorite verses are: “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10.10b) and “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15.12).
Kay enjoys playing with her cats, walking in the mountains, and talking about God.
Rev. Nancy Kollhoff, Associate Pastor
Nancy’s primary responsibilities are for congregational care and mission to those beyond the church. Her undergraduate degree in education was done at The University of Kansas. She received her M.Div. from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. As a seminary student, she served at Lawrence First (her home church) and Lowman in Topeka. Following graduation from Saint Paul, she served at Rossville before being appointed here.
She is married to Dale McAllister. Together they have a blended family of five children and two grandchildren with another on the way.
Her favorite scripture is from chapter 8 of Paul’s letter to the church in Rome, especially verses 26 and 38–39: “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.…For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Nancy enjoys reading, knitting, walking, and killer Sudoku.
Rev. Andy Hargrove, Associate Pastor
Andy’s primary responsibilities are for small group ministry and adult Christian education. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. He earned a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. First UMC Manhattan is his first appointment.
Andy is married to Christine Hargrove. They have two young children, Junia and Gideon, and a dog named Chester.
His favorite scripture is Jonah 2:2: “I called to the Lord out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice.”
Andy enjoys fishing, canoeing, watching Georgia football, and spending time with his family.
